The Hungarian regulatory authority NHH has issued decisions which impose the immediate (as of tomorrow) reduction of the wholesale call termination charges of the historic fixed incumbent operator Matáv, as well as of the franchisees of the early 1990s: Hungarotel, Emitel, Monortel and Invitel.

Matáv’s call termination charges must be reduced by an average of 38%, those of Invitel by 45%, Emitel by 48% and Hungarotel and Monotel must reduce their call termination charges by 56% on average.

The NHH has applied a methodology relying on a benchmarking exercise, combined with cost-accounting data from the operators, in order to reach what it considers to be the average level of call termination charges in Europe.
